Set Strategy Right

Communication is a fundamental skill that lever any ideas you want to convey. It bridges your messages and passion what you brings. However, to ride the communication well it's not easy, especially when you are lading up on leadership journey. It's not the matter what diction you choose when you convey, but more importantly is a strategy. 

My experience seeing that we can never be always 100% ready on any situation. The more responsibility, the more we pull back our self into the day-to-day job of the team. It's not right or wrong, but that's how the team should purposefully work. Then, the question is how to make ourself ready on any situation ? 

Up until know it becomes unanswered question or fix strategy for me or somebody who feels similar. It may depends on the person you engage or how type of they work style. I have ever handled a situation where thing doesn't perfectly match. Somehow boss ask for understanding of small part of my portfolio. It sounds like this boss may prefer talking in more proper way of meeting or preferably just discuss through email. It is kind of different type of local Indonesia boss who carry easy/casual talk rather than formal meeting. Thus, to show the proactiveness we just book quickly the meeting with the boss. However, preparation should be consider as number 1st priority. While the supporting team also not available as end of year annual leave wave. Hence, with the current resource i need to dive more deeper into operational things which make me lose key insights. Bottom line is i can not consider ready for everything on my portfolio, but my purpose is only to serve information what the boss ask. 

Situation worsen with not clear agenda of talk in the beginning of discussion. Thus i have to force my self showing some information that not ready. While I understand the level of information to boss should already been refined into some actionable insights. 

Thus learning is to really look at how the boss type (even though maybe we'll never perfectly guess his/her right expectation). Setting clear expectation of discussion should come first to reserve some topics that we 'are not ready. Because we need to be ready even though we are not ready at the end.
